Ahoy all, a quarter of the year over and daylight saving having already ended, I feel a bit robbed of summer this year with unusually windy weather in the weekends keeping most of us onshore.
There has been some brave souls going out in search of a feed and the common story is lots of small fish around this year, along with the odd decent one as well. Still, the competitive spirit of members is alive and well, with multiple events all running in parallel as listed below.

Southern Cross Cable Zone – East Coast Bays
The Auckland Yachting and Boating Association have approached the Browns Bay Boating Club to ask if we are interested in commenting on that Southern Cross Fibre cable that passes just offshore Browns Bay.
Over a number of years, there has been discussion on the Southern Cross Cable and the effects on club activities of the no anchoring zone that it lies in, off the east coast between Takapuna and Gulf Harbour.
With current survey work being undertaken of the cable, it would be an opportune time for clubs who sail, boat and fish in and around this zone to share any current concerns they have over the no anchoring zone and suggestions going forth as to the best solutions for the location of any future cables, route and placement i.e. burying cable.
Your input is important as the key organisations, Spark, the Minister of Communications, Southern Cross Cables need to be made aware of any existing issues and concerns which this cable and its zone and any future cables may cause.
Please send your communications to the following addresses and provide a copy to the AYBA via Tanya Ankersmit email address ayba.secretary@gmail.com
